DR KENNETH Kaunda has said that former defence minister George Mpombo has been barking like anything at President Rupiah Banda.
Featuring on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation's (ZNBC) Kwacha Good Morning Zambia programme last Saturday, Dr Kaunda said Mpombo had a terrible language which could not be accepted by anyone. However, he expressed happiness that Mpombo had pledged to reconcile with President Banda.
"We should work together. If you look at the squabbles which are going on in Zambia today, calling each other names, it's shameful! I should refer to this, I was happy to see Mpombo who's been barking like anything at Rupiah Banda... I was happy to hear him say 'no I'm going to reconcile with Rupiah Banda'," Dr Kaunda said.
"And, yes the MMD are very angry with him because they've got concerns about him. He has a terrible language, Mpombo who was there in government! I think we should not accept this. We should stop wallowing in filth of thought if we call ourselves a Christian nation."
Dr Kaunda said Zambians should live in unity, in their spirit of One Zambia One Nation.
"Zambians have co-existed in the spirit of One Zambia One Nation. The result is we have been able to build our nation. We are able to have a mother from Eastern Province, a father from Western Province, a father from Northern Province, a mother from Southern Province," Dr Kaunda said.
"And we are just living like that as a people, accepting God's teaching: love your neighbour as you love yourself. Do unto others as you would love them do to you. So we are thanking God for making it possible that we can do that. So, Christmas is one of those good things that unite us, whether we are Catholic or protestants."
