FIRST Republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda has appealed to Zambians to love one another and work together this Christmas.

In an interview at a children’s Christmas event at Spar Arcades, Dr Kaunda urged people to continue loving one another as Christmas was a day of thanksgiving.

He reiterated the need for people with differences to meet, discuss their differences and not shout at each other.

Dr Kaunda encouraged Zambians to work together to build a one Zambia, one nation irrespective of colour, faith and tribe.

At the event, Dr Kaunda, who was clad in Santa Claus attire, handed out sweets and goodies to the children that attended the event.

The children gleefully took photos with the former president before walking away with goodies while onlookers watched in amazement.

Spar Arcades receiving and public relations manager Majid Ticklay urged people not to drink at Christmas but instead go to church to thank God as Christmas was a time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ.

And Spar Arcades managing director Steven Luputa thanked Spar customers for their support even in the midst of the global financial crisis.
