(TALKZIMBABWE) Tsvangirai should heed Zuma's advice

Tsvangirai should heed Zuma's advice

DEAR EDITOR — There is something wrong with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. Whoever deals with him for a month or so quickly notices his rigidity in dealing with issues. The latest is South African President Jacob Zuma, who has advised Tsvangirai to desist from dwelling on trivialities and to be flexible.

For a person of President Zuma’s stature to pass these comments it must have taken a lot of frustrating reflection and necessity, otherwise if it was a small issue he would have kept quiet. President Zuma is a diplomat, he could have said more.

The prevailing political dispensation in Zimbabwe needs leaders who are not only considerate but highly flexible and knowledgeable.

The Prime Minister must sit down, think and reflect on why President Zuma said that about him and not President Mugabe.

So it is true that the Prime Minister is still someone’s front because there is no reason why he cannot be flexible in a meeting with the likes of President Zuma unless he wants to consult his masters.

Our call as Zimbabweans is for Tsvangirai to be rational and dwell on matters of national interest otherwise President Zuma and others will lose patience with him.

President Zuma came into office recently but signs are that he is already getting fed up with Tsvangirai’s rigidity.

We should not forget that former South African president Thabo Mbeki once complained about Tsvangirai’s rigidity and lack of respect for African leaders. The man has not changed but we should get him to do the right things.

Tsvangirai must be careful not to stretch the patience of African leaders and the people of Zimbabwe.
