THE Patriotic Front (PF) leadership in Luapula Province has warned Frederick Chiluba that they will embarrass him heavily if he travels there to decampaign their party leader Michael Sata.

In an interview on Tuesday, provincial secretary Abraham Mutale warned that they would not allow Chiluba to hold clandestine meetings like the ones he held on the Copperbelt to decampaign Sata and UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

Mutale said the party leadership was aware that from the Copperbelt, Chiluba was expected to move to Luapula and campaign for President Rupiah Banda.

“We have heard that Chiluba is Luapula bound and we are seriously waiting for him. Tell him that the Copperbelt treated him with kids’ gloves but here we shall embarrass him heavily. We know he comes from here but we didn’t share in his loot for him to think that he owns Luapula. And this embarrassment will be worse than what he experienced in Kasama last year,” Mutale warned.

“Chiluba keeps claiming that he has retired from active politics, but now he’s busy decampaigning our president. He is free to support whoever he wants but not to decampaign others. And because he is politically active now tell him that we can’t wait to take him own. We shall make sure he regrets ever decampaigning our party president.”

Mutale wondered what special arrangement was there between President Banda and Chiluba.

“It is a shame that our chiefs are supporting him for his dirty activities. Is it not the same Chiluba who denied Kaunda his benefits when he became politically active? And now this government has allowed Chiluba to campaign for Banda. What is it that Chiluba has agreed upon with Rupiah Banda? This is a clear confirmation that Chiluba’s acquittal had specific conditions. The two must have agreed that one would campaign for the other if released,” he said.

And Mutale warned Luapula chiefs supporting Chiluba that they would lose people’s respect.

“Our chiefs are being hypocritical on this matter. We know that some of them benefited from Chiluba and are still benefiting, but we humbly ask them to desist from provoking us. They should not forget that politics is not part of their activities, and if they persist to do so they risk losing people’s respect. So. I humbly ask our traditional leaders in Luapula to be impartial and treat everyone as their subject,” requested Mutale.

Chiluba has for the past two weeks been busy on the Copperbelt decampaigning PF/UPND Pact leaders Hichilema and Sata. Chiluba has on the other hand been campaigning for President Banda, promising people that the President would sell them houses if Chiluba spoke to him.
