Zambians need accelerated development, says Mwiimbu

And these two projects have been seriously supervised by the council and imagine if councils throughout the country were funded, the infrastructure of the country would have been to the expected standards," said Mwiimbu.

This should be PF-UPND national policy. This is the only meaningful direction of 'development'.

MONZE Central UPND member of parliament Jack Mwiimbu has said Zambians are in dire need of a government which will appreciate and implement issues that will encourage accelerated development at all levels of society.

In an interview after he officially handed over a police post and a fish market in Monze constructed from the Constituency Development Fund CDF, Mwiimbu said decentralisation was a key factor to accelerated development in the modern world.

"Development and issues of poverty are the major concerns of the people of Zambia not only in my constituency but countrywide. No wonder today we are busy and seriously advising the current government to implement the decentralisation policy as quickly as possible for people to participate in sharing the national cake equally.

This time around Zambia's resources are not equally shared. We have seen crooks that are busy masquerading and parading for those in governments to be given prominence and special attention at the expense of the majority poor," he said.

"As UPND-PF pact when we form government, we shall ensure that resources meant for developmental activities are not mismanaged in the manner the current leadership and government is doing."

Mwiimbu said councils had the capacity to foster national development through out the country on behalf of those in government but the MMD leadership had failed to take advantage of the local government system.

And these two projects have been seriously supervised by the council and imagine if councils throughout the country were funded, the infrastructure of the country would have been to the expected standards," said Mwiimbu.

He said the current government was failing in addressing issues of decentralisation because they wanted and supported pilferage in public institutions.

"We are aware of some councils where CDF has been accessed by individuals related to those in power. The money meant for development at constituency level has been abused. But we have to warn them that soon this will come to an end because we, if voted into power, shall fight corruption vigorously and we shall not interfere with any investigative wing like the MMD were doing," said Mwiimbu.
