GHANA High Commissioner to Zambia Dr William Brandful has said Africa should not be poor because it has a lot of natural resources that can improve the living standards of its people.

Visiting Indeni Oil Refinery on Saturday, Dr. Brandful said he was in Ndola to explore investment opportunities so that Ghana and Zambia could exchange ideas on how to run the refinery oil companies and the mines.

“We are here to build up on the relations of our country and the country we are accredited to. Ghana and Zambia both have a refinery company and some mines. We are here to see how we can exchange ideas and to also create links,” he said.

Dr Brandful said like Indeni, the refinery company in Ghana had been facing a number of challenges.

“Any business that has to see… to the interest of its country has challenges and we have been faced with similar challenges in Ghana. There has been a problem with crude oil and the company has had to shut down because of the same,” he said.

He said he was also impressed with the kind of Gemstone that is in Zambia and the richness of the country.

“I am always amazed at the variety of gemstones that Zambia has. People come from afar to see these things and we can have value addition. Africa is rich, it should not be poor because it has a lot of natural resources that can improve the lives of every African in our time,” said Dr. Brandful.
