Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Wynter Kabimba has said home affairs minister Lameck Mangani’s judgement of issues is blunt and crowded by the fact that he is a former foreman.
Reacting to Mangani’s statement that he Kabimba was the worst secretary general the PF has ever had, Kabimba said it was obvious that Mangani’s judgement of issues was based on the fact that he was a former foreman.
“Mangani’s judgement of issues is poor because of his background which is a former foreman at Sable Transport where he was checking which trucks have left and which ones are in… That’s a job which does not require some level of intelligence to do,” Kabimba said.
“He is not a Patriotic Front member for him to make a judgement as to whether I have been the worst secretary general for the PF. The PF members are the ones who are supposed to do that.”
He said it was unfortunate that as the world was moving forward by having competent people running public affairs, Zambia had a foreman as Minister of Home Affairs.
“So obviously even his judgement of issues must be based on that background because to come from a level of a foreman to a minister with a flag on your vehicle, it must be a big lift for Mangani,” Kabimba said.
He said based on this background, there was need for the country to understand Mangani’s level of understanding.
Kabimba said Mangani was in fact clinging to President Rupiah Banda because he wanted to keep his job.
“But in PF the number one priority for every member is clinging on to PF. Our allegiance lies to the PF and not Michael Sata as an individual, which is reversed in MMD because their allegiance is with Rupiah. As PF we are building a party that will serve Zambians,” he said.
Kabimba said he would be pleased if Mangani instituted investigations on his alleged abuse of power during the time he worked for the council.
Kabimba’s comments follow Mangani’s statement that he would direct the police to investigate circumstances under which he Kabimba bought a big house at a price of K500,000 just after independence when he worked in the council.
He said once the investigations were complete, Mangani should make the findings public.
“I challenge him to institute investigations. He should not just look like he is politicking or being malicious because I will take action if does not show the nation how I abused my office,” said Kabimba.
