KATUBA MMD parliamentarian Jonas Shakafuswa has warned that MMD thugs led by Lusaka Province chairman William Banda will one day meet their Waterloo.

In an interview, Shakafuswa expressed displeasure with the manner in which Banda has been harassing people in the country.
He expressed optimism that one day Banda would be shown the way out.

“The question we should ask ourselves is ‘where are the police when William Banda is harassing innocent people?’” Shakafuswa asked. “I can tell you that these MMD thugs will one day meet their waterloo. We are just keeping quiet for now but one day we shall act because Zambians should not be harassed in their own country by one William Banda. William Banda is just an illiterate … who needs to be shown his way out. The people of Zambia are fed up with him and he is lucky he is favoured by the President. But he can’t be humiliating defenceless women like that. He will be shown the way out.”

Asked for his opinion on President Rupiah Banda’s alliance with Frederick Chiluba, Shakafuswa wondered if it was in the interest of the nation.

“First of all, I don’t see anything wrong with presidents making pacts. But what we should ask is, is this pact in the interest of the nation or it’s for personal gain? There is a possibility that people could be looking at their own pockets. I think people should look for alliances that can help. Right now we have people chasing the presidency without an agenda. The country has become a circus where everyone has become a jockey,” complained Shakafuswa.

“And when you advise people, they become personal. They say ‘you are ugly’ or ‘you failed to run your company at one time, so there’s nothing you can tell us’. But this is wrong because even if someone had failed, they can always sit down, reflect and be reasonable again. They can still offer credible advice. The best thing is for us to listen when people talk, including those perceived to be enemies. This country does not belong to a clique of people who are misleading others.”
