PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has said he is more concerned about unity in his party than what is happening in the opposition PF-UPND Pact.
Responding to questions from journalists at the Lusaka International Airport yesterday just before his departure for Turkey, President Banda said whatever happened in the Pact was none of his business.
On his trip to Turkey at the invitation of that country’s head of state Abdullah Gul, President Banda said the invitation had been pending for about a year.
“I just read it cracks in the Pact like you. I don’t know what to make of it but that is not our business. What we are interested in is the unity of our party. As you know, Turkey is one of the emerging economies in the world today. And we felt greatly honoured to be invited by the President there.
They have been asking for the last one year. So we’ll go there and talk with our friends, see how we can collaborate and how we can benefit from their development,” said President Banda.
