COMMUNITY development deputy minister Friday Malwa has been suspended from the ruling MMD for allegedly forming parallel structures in Kapiri Mposhi.

According to a letter dated August 3, 2010 addressed to Malwa and copied to MMD national chairman for elections Mike Mulongoti, the National Executive Committee, MMD secretariat and Central Province executive committee chairman, Kapiri Mposhi district executive committee has suspended him from all party activities for three months.

Malwa is accused of forming parallel structures, which the party officials in the area said was contrary to the MMD constitution.

“Due to the seriousness of the matter at hand, we the district executive committee have decided to suspend you from all party activities for a period of three 3 months with immediate effect. This is contained in our party constitution Article 28 subsection 4,” read the letter in part.

“It is alleged that you are busy making parallel structures, thereby disregarding the party structure. The district had already made all lower structures a long time, now we are wondering why the new party parallel structures and in what capacity?”

MMD Kapiri Mposhi district chairman Noah Kabwela signed the suspension letter.

But when contacted to comment on his suspension, Malwa said he had not seen the letter.

“I’ve not received the letter. I’ve not seen it. So, I cannot comment on that,” said Malwa.

Recently, MMD cadres in Kapiri Mposhi protested against Malwa’s intention to petition the July 8 constituency elections in which he lost to MMD Kapiri Mposhi central ward councillor Kabwe Mwamba.
