THE police command is not renewing Greenwell Ng’uni’s three-year contract as Lusaka Province police commanding officer, according to sources. Police sources told The Post yesterday that Ng’uni’s three year contract as Lusaka Province police chief expired on Friday.

The sources said former in-charge of Criminal Investigations Division (CID) at Lusaka Central Police Muchakeni Zulu will be taking over as the new Lusaka Province police commanding officer tomorrow.

“Mr. Ng’uni is expected to handover on Monday and from what he has hinted he is going to his farm in Chingola,” the sources said.

“You know, Ng’uni has been in the service for close to 35 years now and he rose through the ranks from a Constable to Deputy Commissioner of Police.”

And Zambia Police Service spokesperson Ndandula Siamana referred all queries on the matter to Inspector General Francis Kabonde.

However, efforts to get a comment from Kabonde also proved futile.

Meanwhile, Siamana said New Year eve was peaceful in Lusaka except for an accident that occurred at around 10.00 hours yesterday.
