Rupiah is being misled, says Lundazi retiree

DEVELOPMENT is suffering in Zambia because people in government are busy defending their positions, says a retired head teacher resident in Lundazi. In an interview in Chipata on Thursday, Johnson Chimfwembe said it was sad that there was a lot of hatred among political leaders at the expense of development.

“I feel very, very sad because the President is being misled, to an extent that sometimes you can’t even understand what he says. The issue is that those people he eats with are his own enemies because they are not telling him the truth about things. They tell him there is development this side, but we take five hours from Lundazi to Chipata, a distance that you can cover in one and half hour. The road is very bad,” Chimfwembe said.

He said there was need for Zambians to scale down to development instead of promoting hatred.

“Let them show us they are really educated by doing right things that will make us ordinary people appreciate them,” Chimfwembe said.

He also urged Lundazi Central UNIP parliamentarian Mkhondo Lungu, who is home affairs minister, to refrain from making unnecessary statements because he was an honest man.

“That man is very honest. If he makes unnecessary statements like that reaction to Colonel Panji Kaunda’s caution on violence, people will misjudge him. I have known that man for a very long time, he is a very honest man,” said Chimfwembe.
