PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda says the date for the 2011 elections will be announced as soon as the MMD completes laying its groundwork. And President Banda says Michael Sata is a perpetual loser, who does not feel ashamed of his election failures.
[Now there's fodder for psychologists - of President Banda's mind - MrK]
Addressing MMD officials and cadres that welcomed him at Solwezi airport yesterday shortly before he officially opened the MMD provincial conference, President Banda challenged party members to explain to people why it was necessary for MMD to continue in office.
“We are building roads, schools and attracting investors who are creating jobs. Of course the opposition will say some of us are not employed but not everyone can be employed. So go out and tell people what government is doing and why we deserve another mandate because the opposition will do anything to tell lies,” President Banda said.
“As prophets of doom they are working hard to deceive people but we are getting well equipped everyday and as soon as the NEC completes laying the ground work we shall announce the date of the elections.”
President Banda said leaders were judged by their good works and not through the poison that comes out of Sata’s mouth.
“The opposition is trying to scare away investors that 2011 elections will be violent. But these prophets of doom should not be tolerated since we have been having free and fair elections for the past 20 years of MMD rule and even this time we shall follow the same procedures to conduct elections,” President Banda said.
“Sata is a failure and even in 2011 he shall lose although he is cheating people and predicting a win.”
President Banda advised MMD members to encourage people to register as voters because 2011 was a critical year for the county as well as the MMD.
And North Western minister Daniel Kalenga told President Banda that people in the province were excited about the developmental projects being undertaken and were ready to give his government another mandate.
