PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda and Frederick Chiluba are birds of the same feather who want to dribble the people of Zambia, says Ng’andu Magande.

In an interview Magande, who is president of the newly formed National Movement for Progress (NMP) party, said Zambians must vote for a person who is honest, has integrity and is hard-working, none of which traits President Banda has.

“It's no more a question of a party, because some parties may go to a convention and stage-manage a presidential candidate. People must vote for someone with integrity. Chiluba and President Banda are birds of the same feather and they want to dribble the Zambian people,” Magande said.

He said it was not just about change, as change could also be retrogressive in some instances, but people should look for a candidate with integrity and a good track record of hard work.

“My supporters say that I'm the hottest candidate with a good track record,” he said.

He wondered what reason President Banda would give after he leaves office for not being being present during the national days for youths and women when they were the majority and needed employment and empowerment.

Magande said Zambians needed a candidate who was abreast of the current technological advancements and would ignite development.

He said when he left government as finance minister in 2008, he realised that he had lacked a bit of ambition by declaring the Vision 2030 instead of Vision 2015, as the youths were ready to work hard now.

“The people now can't even interpret the Vision 2030, they are looking at 2050. Don't make a mistake so that we should not lose the opportunity for change,” said Magande.
