PF Southern Province youth chairperson Brave Mweetwa has challenged President Rupiah Banda to cite any development he has initiated for the people of Mazabuka since he was elected as President. Mweetwa observed that President Banda had done nothing to develop Mazabuka apart from issuing empty political statements.
“We know that he is also being misled by chief Mwanachingwala, whom we know is unpopular among his subjects. Let Rupiah continue being misled by the chief and he will have himself to blame when he loses this year’s elections,” said Mweetwa.
He said all the school and health projects in the area were initiated by the late Levy Mwanawasa.
He further said Mazabuka residents were grateful to Zambia Sugar company for building a maternity ward at the hospital and also for improving the water reticulation system.
Mweetwa said the Catholic Church also deserved to be commended for constructing a modern laboratory at Mazabuka hospital.
He said without the assistance of the two institutions, Mazabuka hospital would
have been operating like a clinic.
“Mazabuka residents will only remember Rupiah for sending riot police officers to kill residents who were protesting against the tear-gassing of their friends who were watching a live English Premier League football match,” said Mweetwa.
