MBITA Chitala says it’s over for MMD now that their roots in Mambwe-land have been uprooted. In an interview after he met five chiefs in Mbala on Sunday, Dr Chitala said it would be a landslide victory for the opposition Patriotic Front in this year’s general election.

Dr Chitala, who is on a mission to traditional MMD strongholds in the Northern Province, met chiefs Mwamba, Chisa, Mpepo II, Fwambo and Zombe. Others were chiefs Penza, who is also elder brother of late former finance minister Ronald Penza, and Kela.

Dr Chitala, who was accompanied by several Mbala district PF officials said the MMD government had campaigned against itself by denying the people of Mbala meaningful development.

“All the chiefs I met today indicated the need for change of government. Their major complaints are that the MMD government has ignored issues like cattle restocking, no major industry in the province and roads are impassable in Mbala,” Dr Chitala said.

“This is the area that has been helping MMD with votes, but it’s now over for them. Their roots have been uprooted, so they are not a factor any more.

In fact, all of us who come from this part of the country have agreed to support the PF, and we will come as a team to finish off MMD. There is myself, Mr Wila Mung’omba, Dr Mathews Mphande and many others. We have to support PF so that people’s lives can improve.”

He said it was time for a robust and forward-looking government to take over.
Dr Chitala said the MMD lies about PF leader Michael Sata had been exposed.
“These MMD fellows have been lying to our people here that if president Sata comes into power then he will give this part of the country to Tanzania.

And the people were denying president Sata the vote because of this lie. But I explained to all the chiefs I met because that was their fear. I told them that the MMD government has been deceiving them, and they understood.

I told them about how passionate president Sata has been about developing this country. So, they have vowed to give the PF a landslide victory,” he said.
Dr Chitala said the PF had the best manifesto that catered for every sector of the economy.

He said it was his duty to explain the manifesto, including the aspect of delivering inputs early.

“We are now just waiting for elections and everyone will see that there’s nothing for MMD here. They can argue for now but they are in for a rude shock,” said Dr Chitala.
