THE opposition Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) says the desperate attempts by the MMD to tarnish Michael Sata’s image will not stop people from changing government.

In a statement, party chairman for elections Richard Banda said Zambia needed Sata as Republican president because he was a serious and firm leader.

Banda said the recent pronouncements by the PF leader when he visited the Oxford University in London inspired many and clearly proved that he had a vision for Zambia.

“Sata fully understands the problems Zambians have been subjected to. There is no doubt that he is a very experienced politician with a clear traceable record of performance behind him. Going by the manner in which he outlines and exposes the problems we are facing in this country, people have realised that he will attend to matters of national interest with the seriousness they deserve,” Banda said.

Banda said people should not pretend and say President Rupiah Banda was outstanding when many things had gone wrong because of his inept governance system.

He said it was sad to note that the country’s mineral wealth was being exploited and being given away through corrupt means as if there was no government. Banda said change of government was inevitable because hunger and poverty had become a common phenomenon due to lack of employment.

He said the FDA had pledged to support and campaign massively for Sata and the PF.

“As a party we have constituted a steering committee on the Copperbelt and Kitwe in particular, under my chairmanship to organise the party and we shall soon be moving to other towns and provinces.

We are aware that there are desperate tactics in some parties opposed to the current growing popularity of PF and Sata as potential president.

We urge all well-meaning Zambians to remain firm, brave and focused if we are to bring about desired change for better Zambia,” said Richard Banda.
