PF leader Michael Sata says Zambia needs to be reorganised. And Sata said President Rupiah Banda has neglected the people of North Western Province because he is a foreigner.

Addressing a huge public rally at Kabompo Freedom Square, Sata said the gains from the mining industry were not trickling down to the people and that the road infrastructure in the province was still deplorable.

“Can you please do me a favour, ask Rupiah Banda for the money he is collecting from the mines to come and finish this Mutanda-Chavuma road,” he said.

He urged the people not to be told lies about him by the MMD.

“MMD say that Michael Sata will take you to Angola. Why should I take you to Angola? They say that Michael Sata insults the people of Northwestern Province. Is it me who has refused to give you the Mutanda-Chavuma road? So who is insulting you, is it Michael Sata or Rupiah Banda?” Asked Sata as the jubilant crowd responded: “It’s Rupiah Banda!”

He said President Banda’s administration has failed the people of Zambia.

“They say Michael Sata is arrogant, yes I’m arrogant. When you see how people are suffering, why shouldn’t I be arrogant? MMD thinks people of Northwestern Province are like babies to be cheated all the time,” Sata said.

“Kenneth Kaunda, Frederick Chiluba and Levy Mwanawasa always started buying maize on 1st June. When I was coming here, I saw that there is maize stuck all over the place, nobody has received even one ngwee.”

He said there was need to change the manner in which the country was being governed.

“What we need now is to re-organise ourselves. The only person who knows how many people are good farmers is the village headman,” Sata said.

“When PF forms government That village headman is the one who is going to distribute fertiliser. And by 1st June, the village headman will be responsible for buying the maize.”

He said under the PF government, all chiefdoms would have secondary schools.

He said in Zambian culture people did not get strangers to take over leadership and added that President Banda had neglected the people of Northwestern Province because he was a foreigner.

“Banda has never denied that he is from Nyasaland Malawi. When he stole my votes in 2008 the first place he went to is Gwanda, he did not go to Chipata,” Sata said.

“We are remembering Mwanawasa, Chiluba and Kaunda because of the roads they did. And we are remembering Rupiah Banda for taking our money.”

He said President Banda only respected Mosi-Oa-Tunya Victoria Falls and not Mwinilunga were the source of Zambezi River is.

“Without Mwinilunga, there is no Zambezi and there is no Mosi-Oa-Tunya so where is the leadership?” he asked.

He said Kabompo contributed to Zambia’s liberation.

“In 1959, Kenneth Kaunda under the state of emergency was restricted here in Kabompo. What is there to show the people of Zambia that Kabompo district contributed to the liberation of Zambia?” Sata asked.

“We don’t even respect our own people working for us. If you look at the houses which are accommodating our police officers, if you look at the transport the police are using and those are the people who spend sleepless nights to keep peace.”

And PF Kabompo district chairperson Catherine Mukuma bemoaned the high levels of poverty in the district.

“There is poor road network, feeder roads are in a poor state, the levels of unemployment amongst the youths are high, education has become very expensive and health facilities are poor,” Mukuma said.

“We have decided to empty the MMD pots of votes to you Mr president because you are a man of action. You believe in hardwork and you have a passion for the people.

“You don’t only talk but you do it unlike others who have never even bothered to say thank you to the people of Kabompo after giving them a vote in 2008 which they got on Mwanawasa’s legacy and which they have failed to follow.”

She said since 2008, President Banda had never been to Kabompo and it would be unwise for him to go there and solicit for support from people he never thanked.

“No matter how much lies the MMD have spread about you, they are a non-starter,” said Mukuma.
