Tsvangirai warns MDC-T members who question his leadershipPosted by By Our reporter at 8 August, at 21 : 35 PM Print
MDC-T leader and inclusive Government prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai left mourners baffled Monday as he used the burial of Public Service, Professor Eliphas Mukunoweshuro, to warn party members within his party, who attempt to question or contest his position as party leader.
Addressing mourners, who converged at Warren Hills Cemetery to bid farewell to the late Professor Mukonoweshuro, who was minister of public service in the inclusive Government, Tsvangirai re-affirmed his grip on the MDC-T party as he declared war against any dissenting voices within his party, a development that will leave his party supporters questioning his so-called democratic principles which he purports to preach.
“As a leader, I sometimes tell members to keep quiet and also tell them what to do. Unwavering supoort is what we want.
“But others also want to become leaders, wait your time will come,” said Tsvangirai.
“Those who wish me gone today should realise that we have a mission to complete, and why should I go before that mission is complete?” asked Tsvangirai.
This is not the first time that Tsvangirai has indicated his intentions to cling to power as he reshuffled his side of Cabinet in the inclusive Government by replacing some party officials with loyalists.
Tsvangirai and his Kitchen Cabinet also illegally changed the MDC-T party’s constitution to pave way for his third term in power after his mandatory two terms had expired. Tsvangirai is now serving a third term which was not approved by his party’s Congress, the highest decision-making gathering.
Meanwhile, speaker after speaker who attended the burial of Professor Mukonoweshuro described the late minister as a humble man who was not disciminatory.
Professor Eliphas Mukonoweshuro is believed to have had a lung ailment.
He died at a South African hospital and is survived by his wife Retsepile and one son, Bradley Thuso.
