ZAMBIANS have resolved to try Michael Sata for president, says Lameck Mangani.
And Mangani has dispelled the MMD-perpetrated rumours that he was in hospital. Addressing a rally in New Jim compound on Sunday, Mangani who is the PF candidate for Chipata Central, said Sata’s campaign messages were very pleasing to Zambians who have resolved to try him.

“The whole country is now saying we should try Michael Sata. This man has continued saying important things. For example, he is saying poverty levels are very high in Zambia. Sata is saying the country can easily find money that can help in reducing poverty levels through mining taxation because at the moment mining companies are not paying enough tax. He is saying if we make industries then youths could be assisted in one way or the other,” Mangani said.

He said if he had wanted, he would have stood on the MMD ticket but decided to join PF because it was more appealing to him.

“It’s better for you to have your person in the new government. So I will be telling Mr Sata not to forget people because we have people in Mchini, in Nabvutika, Chipata and Eastern Province in general,” Mangani said. “The person who can help us is Michael Sata because he understands people’s problems.

I was number four in the MMD government and I was also lucky because I was at the centre of President Banda’s campaign because I wanted him to rule this country. After Rupiah’s election, I told him to look back because things were not okay.

“Many people here depend on farming but the issue of fertiliser is not okay and the marketing is as well not good. Surely, can a person grow maize here in Nabvutika and the market is only found at Msekera or Chisitu? What can a farmer benefit from his maize?

What can you benefit from four bags of subsidised fertiliser? A lot of things are lacking here in Chipata. Youths have no jobs. We need industries and when I say this he (President Banda) used to say I am talkative so I said I will leave you.”

Mangani said he went to New Jim compound for people to know that he was not in hospital and that the people behind such rumours were liars.

“I have come so that you prove those people who were saying I am in hospital wrong. Kuonana tizaonana pa 20, pa 20 wina alira (we are going to meet on the 20th of September, one will cry on the 20th),” Mangani said.

PF provincial publicity secretary Mung’omba Ngoma urged people not to believe MMD propaganda that those who would vote for the opposition would be removed from the social cash transfer beneficiary list because a vote is secret. He urged people to guard their voter’s cards jealously.

One of Mangani’s lead campaigners, Deborah Kamanga, said Sata had been sent by God to rule Zambia. She urged the people not to vote for MMD candidate Reuben Mtolo Phiri who does not reside in Chipata.

Kamanga said people should vote for Mangani because they know that he had performed.

Mangani introduced PF candidate for Msanga ward Lillian Veeger and Araham Kachali for Kapata ward New Jim falls.
