PF Lumezi candidate Clement Mwale says people in the area have no option but to vote for change of government. In an interview yesterday, Mwale said people of Lumezi had never seen any development since MMD came into power in 1991.

"Notable areas of development are the road network which is completely gone. The main road that is worthy talking about is the Lundazi to Chipata road but immediately you get out of that road it is really a disaster," Mwale said.

He said one of the areas that was faced with a lot of challenges was the valley.

"There is no road network in the valley and worse still they depend on the plateau for anything be it food, be it medical services and agricultural inputs so if the road network is not okay then that's it.

You know the people have just said no to MMD now," Mwale said.

He said human-animal conflict was rife in the valley because there was no proper demarcation between villages and the game area.

"A lot of people have lost lives because of the same wild animals and it seems like ZAWA (Zambia Wildlife Authority) is not doing much to protect human beings they are more into protecting animals than people and that is the cry," Mwale said.

He said people have complained to the government over ZAWA's attitude over animals but that they were not getting a favourable response.
Mwale said the PF government would address the human-animal conflict so that ZAWA could guard animals so that they do not cross over to places where people stay.

He said the MMD under President Rupiah Banda had reduced the fertilizer subsidy from eight to four and that the fear was that if re-elected the MMD could further reduce it to two.

Mwale said the MMD government was saying education was free from grade one to seven but pupils were paying a lot of indirect costs.

He urged the people of Lumezi to brace themselves for a good time in which they would work together with their parliamentarian.

Mwale said previous members of parliament were not consulting the people in the constituency when doing things but that the new culture that he would introduce was for people to work with their parliamentarian.
