COLONEL Panji Kaunda says the MMD government has failed to perform. And sub-chief Kampumba of the Lyamba people of Isoka district has decried the suffering people in his area are going through, saying he will demand more from the incoming government to address the situation.

Addressing a rally at Itukuta village in Isoka East Constituency on Monday afternoon, Col Panji urged residents not to be left behind by the wind of change blowing over the nation.

He said unlike the situation was currently where farmers' produce was going to waste because government had failed to buy their maize, during Dr Kaunda's time, government used to follow farmers to buy the commodity and to distribute fertiliser to them.

Col Panji said a government should not borrow from its own people because the people did not get things on credit.

He said those in MMD had run out of ideas and had now started to lie about Sata, that he would kill all the old people and introduce homosexuality.

After the rally at Itukuta village, Col Panji, Mbita Chitala, economic consultant Bob Sichinga and the other PF leaders proceeded to address another meeting at Muleka Tembo, situated a few metres from Catherine Namugala's house.

When the PF campaigners arrived in the area, they found some MMD youths gathered at one of the shops while the PF cadres a distance away waited for their leaders to address them.

When the PF rally commenced, MMD youths, most of whom seemed drunk shifted camp and stationed themselves just a few metres away from where PF was holding its meeting.

The MMD cadres proceeded to mount musical equipment and played loud music, while also singing along loudly.

This angered the PF cadres, particularly the youths, who started heading towards the MMD cadres to confront them physically, but their leaders quickly prevailed on them.

As the PF rally went on, the MMD cadres stopped singing, but allowed the loud music to play on.
By the time the PF were finishing their rally, several MMD cadres had abandoned their base.

Some villagers were heard saying Namugala and her campaigners organised the youths to disturb the PF meeting after news went round that they would hold a meeting in the area.

Commenting on the issue, Sichinga said Namugala was flouting the same electoral code that she helped to formulate, which forbids political parties from disturbing other parties meetings.

"This is savage behaviour. Now what if our youths went there, what would have happened?" asked Sichinga during the rally which finished around 18:30 hours.

Earlier during another rally at Kampumba village, sub-chief Kampumba complained that the people in his area were really suffering.

Sub-chief Kampumba said there was only one borehole in the area which was shared among 16 villages.
