THE MMD has subjected people of Wusakile to living conditions that are below human standard, says Richard Musukwa.

In an interview, Musukwa who is PF parliamentary candidate for Kitwe's Wusakile Constituency said the country was in need of vibrant leaders that would prioritise the improvement of the living conditions of the people.

He said it was unacceptable that after 48 years of independence, the people in Wusakile had no proper water and sanitation services.

Musukwa said Kitwe residents were angered by the fact that Wusakile Constituency, which was in the the mining area and had contributed immensely to the growth of the country's economy, had never been considered for development.

"Tangible development does not mean President Rupiah Banda coming to Wusakile to cheat people about his vision of building toilets in the time of elections when his party, the MMD, has failed over the past 20 years. Zambians should this time around refuse to be dragged into politics of deceit," Musukwa said.

He said it was sad to see how mineworkers in various townships were struggling to survive as if there was no government to compel foreign investors to end casualisation and ensure that workers were not exploited by foreign mine investors.

Musukwa said the country was in need of a government that would ensure that there was equal pay for equal work value in the country.

"When you look at the salary structure of KCM, Mopani or any other mine here on the Copperbelt, they are salaries that can't help somebody to manage a family well. The PF government will ensure that the mines pay workers equitably for the work they do to generate revenue for the country," Musukwa said.

And PF Kamfinsa parliamentary candidate Moses Chishimba said the people in the area had never felt the presence of government because the MMD had abandoned them.

He said the people of Kamfinsa and many other constituencies on the Copperbelt must take comfort in the fact that with the PF government in place after September 20, the country would start seeing the benefits of a working government through real infrastructure development and empowerment of citizens.
