A MAN who accused Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of enjoying secret hotel trysts with his wife has died under mysterious circumstances in Bulawayo.
Jacob Mandeya, originally from Rusape, complained of stomach pains shortly before he died at Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday.

Mandeya hit the headlines in May last year after claiming that widower Tsvangirai was secretly bedding his wife, Aquilina Kayidza Pamberi. Mourners gathered at his home on Baxendale Road in Kumalo suburb on Thursday and Friday ahead of burial in Rusape on Saturday.

His younger brother, who declined to be named, told reporters: “I can confirm that Jacob died at Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday, but I cannot give more details because this is a private issue.

"Everybody is shocked and nobody knows what killed him because he was in good health and did not look threatened by any disease.”

The Bulawayo Chronicle, citing sources, reported on Friday that Mandeya had complained of “severe stomach pains” shortly before he was admitted at Mater Dei. He died within hours.

Mandeya and Aquilina had two children together, daughters aged six and 12.

She allegedly met Tsvangirai during Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe’s graduation party in Bulawayo in 2009.

Mandeya had claimed that on April 3 last year, his wife had spent a night of passion with Tsvangirai at the Nesbitt Castle hotel in the city after moving out of their matrimonial home in Matsheumhlope to their second property in Hillside which was still under construction.

She allegedly had a picture of herself and the Prime Minister as a screensaver on her phone.

Tsvangirai’s aides say they do not comment on his private life.

Aquilina is just one of more than half a dozen women romantically linked with Tsvangirai since his wife died in a car crash in March 2009.

Two women, 24-year-old Loreta Nyathi and Lorcadia Karimatsenga Tembo, both claimed to be pregnant by Tsvangirai.

Loreta has given birth to a son named Ethan, while Tembo remains at Tsvangirai's rural home in Buhera after claiming that the Prime Minister had married her at a traditional ceremony last November before he attempted to wiggle out of the union.
