HOME affairs deputy minister Obvious Mwaliteta says Nevers Mumba is a disgraced pastor struggling to regain credibility through lies.

Commenting on pastor Raphael Nakachinda's claims that he and deputyminister in the Office of the Vice-President Edgar Lungu with 13 hefty Lusaka-based cadres harassed them, Mwaliteta who is in Msanzala said it was Pastor Mumba and his hired thugs that forced their way into their lodge after Vice-President Guy Scott left.

He said despite them paying for the rooms in advance, the proprietor decided to give the room to Pastor Mumba and his team.

"The Vice-President and his team were booked at Chimwemwe Lodge up to February 10, but little did we know that the owner of the lodge was an MMD sympathiser and his son contested one of the constituencies in the province, so they secretly communicated to each other to have us evicted. Our campaign manager (Mkhondo Lungu) told them that the Vice-President is leaving so can you give his room and those for his security to some ministers who were coming for campaigns," Mwaliteta explained in an interview.

"When ministers arrived, it's when we discovered that this failed pastor was occupying the room where the Vice-President was lodged. So this tired pastor was approached to vacate the room because it was already paid for by us and after he refused to dialogue, we decided to leave him and we went to Nyika Lodge where we are for the sake of peace," he said.

According to Pastor Nakachinda, Pastor Mumba checked in at Chimwemwe Lodge and was receiving a briefing from some MMD leaders when PF cadres attacked them.
He said the PF cadres armed with knives assaulted Pastor Mumba's security after he refused to move from the door of the room where Pastor Mumba was.

Pastor Nakachinda said the situation was only saved by Inspector General of
Police Dr Martin Malama who they phoned and provided security.

And Mwaliteta claimed that the MMD had brought the notorious gang commonly known as jerabos from the Copperbelt who attempted to evict PF supporters at Nyika Hotel.

He said the Jerabos were being commanded by Copperbelt youth chairman Chiko Chibale.

"To tell you the truth, I thought the former pastor was a custodian of the gospel, he should have told the truth. I didn't harass him, and nobody harassed him, not even my vehicle was seen near him. I'm a deputy minister, a custodian of the law employed by the Zambians to protect them. Now for this so-called pastor to start telling lies, I don't know why people should trust him. I expected him to be honest," he said.

He said it was unChristian for Pastor Mumba to claim that he was saved by the Inspector General of Police who was at that time in Lusaka.

He said as a person in charge of security, the situation in Msanzala was peaceful.

He said there was no way he would harass Pastor Mumba as they were all Zambians serving the same nation.

Mwaliteta said the MMD had resorted to campaigning in villages at night because people were shunning their meetings.

"It's a well-known fact that Mr Peter Daka can't win this election. Four months ago he was in government but he lost this seat, so what has changed? The PF has already won the seat," he said.
