Zamtel audit report complete - Chifungula

AUDITOR General Anna Chifungula says the auditing of financial accounts of Zamtel is complete. The Auditor General's Office commenced looking at financial accounts of Zamtel while it was under Libya's Lap Green Networks.

"It (report) should have gone to the President (Michael Sata) but we have one other institution that is Tobacco Board which we are still trying to conclude by the end of this week. That is what is going to delay us a bit," said Chifungula in an interview.

Chifungula said that the developments that characterised the reversal of the sale of Zamtel by government had not affected its activities.

"The seizure of the 75 per cent did not have any effect on the audit. In fact, the Zamtel privatisation report that talked about all the issues leading to the privatisation process, was already given to the President and I understand he gave it to the investigative wings," Chifungula disclosed.

"Now the one that we had embarked on and recently concluded, is on the operations of Zamtel after the privatisation. So there are actually two reports."
