PF may be headed towards a crossroads because President Michael Sata's political speed is not in tandem with most party members who are preoccupied with appointments, according to a Chingola-based PF member.

In a statement, McDonald Mulongoti who is immediate past Chingola mayor and former Chitimukulu ward councillor observed that PF might be headed towards a crossroads because of inner mishaps anchored on promises and total dependency on President Sata for a paradigm shift of Zambia's political landscape but without complementing individual members' vigour and viable political insights.

"As a result, President Sata has found himself in a rather awkward situation of seeming to make lots of promises which however turn out to be hollow because his political speed is not in tandem with that of us his followers of which most of us are preoccupied with the arrival of imaginable appointments either in foreign service or as district commissioners whichever is applicable, our humble educational qualifications notwithstanding," Mulongoti noted.

He observed that those that campaigned for the party and have not been considered for appointments were now frustrated.

Mulongoti also observed that only PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba had come to President Sata's defence on most decisions.

"The remedy to all these PF misgivings rest with the PF secretary general Mr Kabimba and his central committee who have a mammoth task to re-explain the PF manifesto to the party members who should also relay the message, without exaggeration, down to the electorate for assimilation," Mulongoti stated.

He also urged ministers not to embarrass the government with their un-researched utterances but rather transmit government policy invariably to avoid contradictions.

"The PF as a party will need to redefine itself into a more democratic party than before because previously the parliamentary adoption process was not held in a transparent manner with the result that some of us decided due to frustration to contest as independents though we still campaigned and voted for President Sata," Mulongoti stated.

He alleged that some members of the central committee were intimidating junior party members for exercising their democratic right to apply for adoption.

Mulongoti stated that he specifically received threats through phone calls from a named member of parliament who is now a cabinet minister for no apparent reason.

"There is also need for deep reflection on how PF party members should be motivated as most of them have no jobs. I have said all these because of my great passion for PF for which I sacrificed my job," stated Mulongoti.
