MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya has been charged and arrested for the abuse of authority of office.
Ms Siliya was arrested and taken into custody at Woodlands police station this afternoon and according to her lawyer Sakwiba Sikota,she was denied bail.Mr Sikota said people at Woodlands police station had received instructions not to give Ms Siliya a bond.
Ms Dora Siliya who is the former Transport and Communications Minister in the MMD administration is alleged to have directed the cancellation of a duly awarded tender for the supply, delivery,installation and commissioning of the Zambia Air Traffic Management surveillance Radar system to Thales Air System SA.
She is also said to have accepted a free offer from Selex Systemi Integrati S.P.A for the repair of a Radar head at the Lusaka International Airport without following procedure. Ms Siliya will appear in court tomorrow.
