Make use of accolades to attract investors, urges ZACCI

COMMENT - "Commenting on Forbes magazine's description of Zambia as one of the most attractive investment destinations" - did they also mention that 45% of children are stunted in their growth because of malnutrition? Or is that just another 'externality', facilitated by the fact that they won't have to pay taxes? Praise from Forbes Magazine nothing to brag about, when positive business conditions come at the cost of the people of the country.

ZAMBIANS should strategically use any local and international accolades to attract investors into the country, advises ZACCI.

Commenting on Forbes magazine's description of Zambia as one of the most attractive investment destinations, Zambia Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) south vice-president Dr Chabuka Kawesha observed that Zambia had attributes that could rival any market on the continent and even globally.

"Let us filter these accolades through all digital platforms like the social media, print media, radio, as well as through international speech forums; and to this monitor and follow up potential investment enquiries," Dr Kawesha stated.

"Let us send the messages of recognition through various agencies like embassies and individuals across the world in seconds."

He stated that ZACCI was pleased that Forbes' statement came barely a few weeks after the appearance of an article by Zambia's UN resident coordinator Kanni Wignaraja entitled, "What makes Zambia a world tourism destination of choice."

"As a chamber, we join in sharing such national developments and recognitions globally. We further call upon both potential local and international investors to call in and make enquiries on what Zambia has to offer," he stated.

Dr Kawesha added that ZACCI, through its secretariat as well as various satellite chamber points mushroomed across the country, welcomed enquiries and called upon the nation to create more benefits from statements such as the ones issued by Forbes magazine.
