HAKAINDE Hichilema is a political mischief who has now turned to daydreaming, says home affairs minister Kennedy Sakeni.

Reacting to the UPND leader's recent attacks on President Michael Sata and his statement in Livingstone that Zambians were "asking for milk from a stone" by thinking that President Sata would develop the country, Sakeni said Hichilema's allegations were out of bitterness for losing an election last September.

"The young man is so bitter that now he has gone out there to tarnish the image of President Sata and the PF government. He is a political mischief; the man is daydreaming. He is totally misplaced. He says things that have no facts at all," Sakeni said.

He said the opposition political parties in the country had now run out of ideas, hence their decision to turn to character assassination.

"They opposition have run out of ideas. It is all sour grapes of losing in last September's election, especially for the young man HH. For the others, apart from the bitterness of having lost power, they have their own internal wrangles," Sakeni said.

He also doubted the credibility of the UPND-MMD working alliance, saying "they will not get anywhere".

"…UPND is not anywhere in Luapula. Even their so-called alliance with MMD is neither here nor there. We don't count them there…MMD has literally gone into oblivion. The question of politics needs strategies, but these (UPND and MMD) have no strategies. They don't know what Zambians want," said Sakeni.

Hichilema on Monday likened Zambians' expectations from President Sata to develop the country to "asking for milk from a stone".

"We are asking for too much from President Sata if we think that he can develop this country. We are asking for milk from a stone, I'm being polite, and I have learnt to be polite. This country needed redemption. It is time to bring leadership with knowledge," Hichilema said.

He said the creation of new districts by the PF was exposing the insincerity of the ruling party.

"They are creating new districts without understanding them. There are a lot of places that are very big and have been left out. It shows ignorance and in the UPND we don't praise ignorant people. Creating a district does not provide food on the table, the people of Zimba want good prices for their cotton. The people of Pemba are crying for cattle disease eradication," he said.

Hichilema further claimed that President Sata had shown traits of a dictator and could only be called as "a person without a plan".

Over a week ago, Hichilema likened President Sata to a clueless hyena.
