CHIEF Bright Nalubamba of the Ila people of Namwala says President Michael Sata is an action-oriented man, not a theoretician and needs to be told the truth.
Speaking when Southern Province permanent secretary Edwin Zumbunu paid a courtesy call on him at Mbeza traditional people's parliament, chief Nalubamba said President Sata was a frank person who did not like beating about the bush.
"President Sata is action-oriented, he is not a theoretician, he needs help
from you people controlling officers, tell him the truth, the Monze-Nico road needs attention. We were promised even electrification just before he became President, you better remind him. What I'm saying is a fact, he told me, then we will know that he means what he says," chief Nalubamba said.
He said Rupiah Banda hated him for being open with him on issues which affected the people and warned controlling officers not to think that they knew it all when they got appointed to certain positions.
Chief Nalubamba said he informed President Sata after he called him over his comments on abuse of office.
"I told him that there was complaints from citizens that he was trying to protect some people Fred M'membe and Muntembo Nchito. I said it was the beginning of the strong relationship and not the end. I told him not to expect appeasement from me, that is true friendship. I told him that he has been a good friend of mine since the time of Dr Kenneth Kaunda," chief Nalubamba said.
He said Namwala needed a High School in Mbeza area as it only had two; Namwala and Kasenga high schools while the technical school started during the MMD era had not yet been completed.
In response, Zumbunu who was accompanied by Namwala district commissioner Grevar Nsanzya said President Sata was aware of many promises Zambians have been awaiting their fulfilment since independence.
"What we can manage we will implement, what we can't we will say so. My programme is to meet all chiefs in the province and please if you have contractors that you are happy with who have worked in this area before, give me the names so that we can bring them back to develop the chiefdom, said" Zumbunu.
