IT's our responsibility to correct the wrongs committed by our predecessors, says Colonel Panji Kaunda. In an interview, Col Panji who is transport, works supply and communications deputy minister, said the government was determined to correct the situation.

"Bear with us for a few more months; things will change. My request to people is that let us all put in our best to develop Zambia; it's the only country we have. Going into government is one thing and to govern is another but we will not let you down. We will fulfil our promises," said Col Panji.

"We took over everything; the bad and the good. It's our responsibility as government to improve things for our people. We are the ones in government, so it's our responsibility to take care of our people. We can't continue saying they (MMD) are the ones who caused the damage, we are now in government, so we will work for our people; they are our masters," he said.

Col Panji said all challenges were man-made and could be solved with commitment.

He apologised to pensioners and retirees that had not received their packages, saying the government was committed to addressing their plight.

He said the PF government was sending government officials to various parts of the country so that they experience people's sufferings.

"We can't continue sitting in our offices receiving reports, that's why you see us as your servants going to different places so that we experience what you go through," said Col Panji.
