PATRIOTIC Front sources have revealed that former party chairman for Lusaka province Davies Chama is among those opposed to Wynter Kabimba's dual roles of secretary general and justice minister.

The sources said the group had been going round the country inciting PF members to call for Kabimba's relinquishing of the party position.

"There is Mr Willy Nsanda the former member of parliament for Chimwemwe, Mr Davies Chama the man who just handed over the provincial chairmanship to Mr Geoffrey Chumbwe, and Mr Emmanuel Musonda Mpankata. If you remember Mr Mpankata was the first PF member of parliament in 2001. He won us a seat in Lupososhi constituency in Luwingu district," said the sources.

"And these people are strongly opposed to the idea of our SG holding two portfolios. But this is a normal practice elsewhere. We do not understand why they should go round inciting members to rise against their leader when there are normal channels of addressing such issues. We challenge them to deny that they have not been inciting our members over this matter."

But Chama has dismissed the allegation as someone's imagination.
He said he could not incite members to rise against his own party.

"That's a lie. I think it's just an imagination. I'm a very principled person and I'm a very strong supporter of PF, there's no way I can do such a thing. I don't subscribe to such politics of inciting people," said Chama.

"There are differences within the party, I have not differed with Wynter per se. But I have been concerned with how he has been operating even before being appointed as minister and secretary general of the party. So, that I've not shared with any member of the public; it's within the party, there are certain debates within the party and there's no secret to it. But you don't run the party through the press, you run the party by interaction with the members. And the role I've played as provincial chairman is to protect the interest of the party.

Chama said he had made demands that there be a full time secretary general to run the party.

Nsanda could however not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was off by press time.

And Musonda challenged his accusers to provide evidence of the meetings he and the other have been holding with PF members.

"It's funny anyway! When you are addressing a meeting, obviously there are people there and there are pictures. So, if there is a picture let them show us that picture so that they prove that this is what me, Mr Willy Nsanda and Mr Davies Chama have been doing," said Musonda.

"Like Chumbwe yesterday Saturday he addressed people where he was supporting Mr Kabimba's double role, there's a picture and there's a statement. Let them produce the same picture where we addressed that meeting; that's the way you do things. I don't know what their motive is, only God knows better whatever their political motive is. I'm an ardent believer in God so I believe that one day the truth will come out."

Addressing PF cadres at the party's secretariat in Lusaka on Saturday, new provincial chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe described people opposed to Kabimba's dual roles as impostors.

Chumbwe said he expected people from the opposition and not PF members to complain over Kabimba's dual roles because this would be to the benefit of the party.
