Zanu-PF Harare Province tomorrow kick-starts a campaign to address developmental challenges in the city. The meeting, the second such after the one held in Bulawayo on Monday, is part of the party’s national campaign to ensure development in all provinces ahead of the Annual National Peoples Conference set for Gweru in December and elections by June next year. The Harare meeting is being organised by the provincial commissariat department.

Party cadres and residents will gather at Hatcliffe I Primary School beginning from 6 pm today. The meeting will be addressed by the party’s national political commissar, Cde Webster Shamu; Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo; and Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

Cde Shamu said the meeting would focus on the indigenisation and economic empowerment drive which will be addressed by Minister Kasukuwere who will also field questions on the programme.

He said Minister Chombo would discuss the challenges confronting residents under the MDC-T dominated council.
“Minister Chombo is going to talk about service delivery in the city, per urban farming and housing co-operatives,” he said.

Cde Shamu would apprise the meeting on the state of the party and how it dovetails into national development and progress made in the constitution-making process among other issues.
