Who Was the Iranian Revolutionary Guard General Killed in Syria?

We bring to ours attention this report about the murder of Hussam Khoshnevis, a general of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in Syria. Most mainstream media reports fail to mention that he was an engineer that was working as a civilian in Lebanon. The presence of Khoshnevis was no secret either. He was the Chairman of the Iranian Commission for Reconstruction in Lebanon, which was publicly rebuilding Lebanon’s civilian infrastructure after Israel’s 2006 war against Lebanon.

The Iranian Embassy in Beirut announced that Chairman of the Iranian Commission for Reconstruction in Lebanon, Hussam Khoshnevis, was martyred at the hands of terrorist groups on his way back to Beirut from Damascus. The Embassy issued a statement in which it expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Khoshnevis.

Mansour: Assassination of Iranian Official in Lebanon Aims at Undermining Fraternity Relations

Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour, condemned the assassination of Head of the Iranian Commission for Reconstruction in Lebanon, Hussam Khoshnevis, by armed terrorist groups while on his way back from Damascus to Lebanon.

In a statement to al-Aalam TV channel, Mansour added that this criminal acts aims at undermining the Lebanese – Iranian fraternity relations.

Minister Mansour hailed martyr Khoshnevis’ contribution to the reconstruction of what has been destroyed in the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006.

He offered condolences to the martyr’s family and to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
