PRESIDENT Michael Sata has appointed Charles Mushota as Road Development Agency chief executive officer, replacing Bernard Chiwala.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication Mwimba Malama said Chiwala had been "promoted" to permanent secretary in a portfolio to be announced later by minister Yamfwa Mukanga.

"So, let's not speculate about these changes," said Malama in an interview on Friday. "The minister will soon tell the nation what Chiwala's new role will be, but he has been promoted PS."
Until the recent promotion, Mushota served as RDA director of construction and rehabilitation.

Chiwala, who was appointed RDA chief executive officer last September to be in charge of the government's Link Zambia 8,000 project which was launched and directly supervised by President Sata, is one of the shortest-serving heads of RDA.
