Presenting cheques to five women's clubs and two youth clubs from Pemba district who have benefited from the Gender and Youth empowerment funds, respectively on Friday, Mugoba said the government was determined to eradicate poverty among the less privileged in society through such initiatives aimed at uplifting their living standards.

The women's clubs that received cheques under the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health were Tugwashanye Widows' Club with K10,000 for a goat project, Luyando Women's Club who received K5,000, St Pauls' Club (K9,300), Chiyaambele Women's Club was given K7,500 for a poultry project and Simatope which received K10,000 for a piggery project.

The youth clubs that received cheques from Ministry of Youth and Sports are Mayuni with K40,000, Mutalange (K33,000) while Suntwe was given K50,000.

Mugoba urged the beneficiaries to utilise the money for the intended purpose so that all people in the community benefit from the revolving fund projects.
