CHIEF Mnukwa of the Ngoni people in Chipata says there is need to remove youths from the streets by involving them in activities that will empower them.

Speaking when he met some officials of an organisation called Zoe Compassionate Zambia, which seeks to empower the local people through training in agriculture related activities, chief Mnukwa said the youth should know that they had a future.

He urged youths to refrain from activities like beer drinking that might ruin their future.

"Let's train people then, we will train a lot of these vulnerable people. When we train youths, then we will remove them from the so called streets. We want beer drinking to be reduced, let the youth know that they have a future," chief Mnukwa said.

And Zoe Compassionate Zambia country representative Stephen Ngwira said his organisation seeks to assist vulnerable families in various ways.

Ngwira said his organisation would strive to work with people of Mnukwa in educating the vulnerable children.

He said the local people should not completely stop taking care of their children after receiving some assistance from his organisation.

Ngwira said through his organisation, some well-wishers such as John Hunt had adopted some families they would be assisting in Mnukwa area.
