Scott should tame Sata before calling for my dismissal - Musosha

It is immoral for Patriotic Front (PF) vice-president Dr Guy Scott to call for my blood when he has failed to tame his president Michael Sata, Luapula Province minister Crispin Musosha said yesterday.

Reacting to Dr Scott's advice to President Levy Mwanawasa to fire him (Musosha) for beating up PF cadres in Chingola on Friday, Musosha advised Dr Scott to first control Sata's behaviour. He said PF had many problems which Dr Scott needed to deal with instead of calling for his blood.
"It is immoral for Scott to start calling for my blood when he has failed to tame his own
president who has told the whole world that he has lost a passport when in the actual fact he hasn't," Musosha said. "I will not mince my words, Scott needs to control Sata's behaviour."

On Saturday, Dr Scott said Mushosha's behaviour was not befitting a minister and showed the poor quality of leaders in MMD.
Musosha on Thursday night physically beat up PF cadres at Chingola's council chambers. The fight started soon after Musosha, in the company of sports, Copperbelt and gender ministers, Gabriel Namulambe, Mwansa Mbulakulima and Patricia Mulasikwanda respectively, went to the civic centre around 21:00 hours to verify results that indicated that the PF candidate Wybur Simuusa was way ahead MMD's Charles Chimumbwa.

But Musosha yesterday said he never fought anybody. He said the cadres were too many for anyone to physically fight them.
"We were only about four ministers against a crowd of five hundred people, what can one do, even if you are Mike Tyson or a star in marshal arts?" Musosha asked.
But Post reporter Chibaula Silwamba said he stood next to Musosha and witnessed the fight.
"He can't deny that, I am ready to challenge him over this," Silwamba said.

Meanwhile, Musosha said police in Chingola were pursuing Chipili PF member of parliament Davies Mwila, losing UPND candidate Alvin Simwinga and Nchanga member of parliament elect Wylbur Simuusa for confiscating food meant for the MMD command post in the just ended by-election.
He said the mealie-meal and chickens that were confiscated by Joe Kalula of the UPND in the company of Mwila, Simwinga and Simuusa were meant for MMD's foot soldiers.

"Even at funerals people eat. We provided them with food and this food was found in a vehicle and not an individual. Kalusa hired a group of thugs in a truck and two minibuses and a van and honourable Mwila was there with Simwinga of UPND and Simusa of PF," Musosha alleged. "On arrival, they commanded that the mealie-meal and chickens be taken onto their truck from our light truck which was heading for the command post.

They ordered that our driver be beaten to death and they started doing that and they pushed his vehicle into the river and if they think this is a play matter, it is before Chingola police. Dockets have been opened against Kalusa, Simusa and Mwila. They are being pursued. They have to explain why they took the food, why the pushed the vehicle in the river and why they beat up the people on the vehicle."
Musosha said after receiving information that the MMD command post had not received the food by 21:00 hours, he and science minister Peter Daka went to Nchanga police where the food was taken.

"Out of 50 bags, we managed to recover eight and 28 chickens with four 2.5 litres of cooking oil. We want to know where Mwila and others took the rest. When we went to Nchanga police we asked for these things and they gave us the things," he said.

Asked why police released the food which was subject of a criminal offence, Musosha responded: "It was an offence quite alright but we had run out of money and food was required for these people who had stayed hungry for some time. And police allowed us to get the food."
Asked whether they did not weaken their case by consuming the exhibits, Musosha said at least they had people who were beaten and those who were injured who would testify on what happened.
