HEALTH minister Dr Brian Chituwo yesterday confirmed that agriculture minister Ben Kapita may never walk again after suffering from spinal problems. Sources on Saturday disclosed that Kapita might not be able to walk again due to the spinal problem he suffered recently.“At first the doctors thought it was TB of the spine but after carrying out tests, it was not found to be the case.

Later after other tests on the spine, they discovered that it was cancer. He may not be able to walk again,” the source said.
Dr Chituwo yesterday said it was unfortunate that Kapita was unlikely to walk.

“It’s very unfortunate, he is unlikely to walk again,” Dr Chituwo said.
However, Dr Chituwo could not give more details on Kapita’s cancer problem.

“Maybe on that, let’s wait for him when he comes so that he can speak for himself,” Dr Chituwo said.

And Dr Chituwo said Kapita was expected back in the country this week from South Africa where he is undergoing specialist medical treatment.

“Honourable Kapita is responding well to treatment. He should be able to finish part of his treatment this week. We hope he will be back this week. And the treatment will continue,” said Dr Chituwo.

Kapita was last month taken to South Africa for specialist treatment after being admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for about three weeks for spinal problems.
