THE Institute of Internal Auditors in Zimbabwe appointed a new board that will oversee the affairs of the national organisation for the next two years. Mr Matthews Kunaka of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe was retained as the president in line with the constitution, which provides for a maximum of two years at the helm. Ms Cecilia Makoni of Printflow was elected as first vice president while Tapiwa Mapukute landed the second vice president’s post.

Mr Adolph Tema of Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe was elected secretary with Ms Marjorie Mamvura of Zimsun getting the treasurer’s post. Other board members include Mr Nqaba Mkwananzi (Ernst and Young), Mr Angel Mukuvisi (Celsys Limited), Mrs Agnes Matambanadzo (CABS), Mr Munyaradzi Tachivona (Delta Corporation) Mr Lincholin Bhila (Zimbabwe Cricket) and Mr Shepherd Muzivi of ReNaissance.

Commenting on the new board at the annual general meeting last week, Mr Kunaka said he was satisfied with the representation of all sectors in the new board.

He added that he was confident the board would go a long way in assisting the institute in tackling the challenges inherent in the present economic environment.

"The various skills encompassed in the new board are what the institute needs to pull through this harsh economic environment and to promote quality service in its members," he said

This, he said, was in line with the broad vision of the institute which is to be the national voice of internal auditing, advocating its value, promoting best practice and providing exceptional service to its members.

The Institute of Internal Auditors was committed to the ongoing development of internal auditors, providing a range of training courses and seminars, networking opportunities, publications and other services.

The institute relied on the efforts and talents of its members for the smooth running of the governance structure outlined in the constitution.
