THE Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has called for speedy talks between the ruling ZANU-PF and the opposition MDC. In a statement on the recent developments on the dialogue process between the two rival political parties, the labour movement urged both parties to expedite the dialogue process.

"The economy is in bad shape and the violence is continuing," the ZCTU stated. ZCTU further stated that the two parties must resolve to appoint a transitional authority.

"A Government of National Unity (GNU) is a subversion of our national constitution and only a neutral transitional authority should be put in place with a mandate to take Zimbabwe to fresh, free and fair elections that will hopefully not be disputed by the parties," stated the labour movement.

The ZANU-PF and MDC have opened dialogue following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a view to end the political and economic crisis in that country.
