KITWE district commissioner Mcdonald Mtine has said there is need for Zambian film-makers to be professional in order to progress. Speaking last Friday when he officiated at the National Association of Media Arts (NAMA) feature films capacity building workshop in Kitwe, Mtine urged Zambian film-makers to work as a team.
“The film industry is an industry that requires team work. We do not have that much quality in our products presently, because producers want and expect to do everything in a production of a film. I urge people in this industry to work professionally,” he said.
Mtine said films plays a vital role in preserving culture and information.
“It plays a very critical role in addressing issues that include economic, religious, political and social problems,” he said.
Mtine said films further promote a sense of pride and community integration among the people and contribute towards job and wealth creation.
“It also contributes to economic development through income creation among the people, therefore, this is a fundamental tool that seriously needs to be promoted amongst Zambian people,” Mtine said. “You hold a lot of power in your hands when communicating with audiences.”
He said the government would always support projects aimed at improving the living standards of people in the country.
