PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has condemned the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip. According to Libya's APA news agency, President Banda, during a meeting with that country's leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi on Monday in Tripoli, condemned the attacks on Gaza.

The meeting, which addressed various issues affecting Africa, was also attended by former Nigerian president Ibrahim Babangida among others.

President Banda also expressed Zambia's wish to enhance relations with Libya and its readiness to encourage Libyan investors to establish investment projects in Zambia.

The two leaders discussed the preparations and arrangements for the next African Union summit scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa at the beginning of next month.

"In this regard President Banda affirmed the necessity of establishing the African federal government during the next summit," sources added.

The meeting between the two African leaders was an opportunity to follow up the work of the Committee of Ten, formed by the African Union with respect to the reformation of the United Nations.

The Zambian leader encouraged Libyan investors to invest in the fields of agriculture, electricity, energy, fuel distribution and tourism.

President Banda was on his first official visit to Libya since his election last year to hold bilateral talks with Colonel Gaddafi.
