HIGHLY-placed sources within ZAMTEL have revealed that the company board decided to call for an extraordinary meeting yesterday after press reports that Dora Siliya had awarded a contract to RP Capital to value the company for partial privatisation.
Sources said the board were in the dark over the engagement of RP Capital of Cayman Islands and they called for a meeting to discuss the development among other issues.
However, communications minister Siliya dissolved the ZAMTEL board on Monday.
The sources said most former board members of ZAMTEL were opposed to Siliya's move over RP Capital.
"The board members were opposed to her on this issue hence the dissolution of the board. In all the three boards that she has dissolved, she wants to put her puppets, men and women who are not going to question her decisions and actions," said the sources.
"Siliya is not dissolving these boards in national interest. She is doing it in personal interests as well as Rupiah Banda's interests."
Siliya also dissolved the National Airports Corporation (NAC) and Zambia Railways boards.
