Sata hits back at Rupiah

Sata hits back at Rupiah
Written by George Chellah

RUPIAH Banda does not qualify to talk about morality and normality, Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata has said. Reacting to President Banda's remarks that he is not normal and is insufficiently educated to rule Zambia, Sata said the wrongs that President Banda committed in the last presidential election were now haunting him.

He said President Banda was confused and jumping like a grasshopper because he has no programme for Zambia.

"He has no message for the people and he is now blaming Zambians on why the elections were rigged in his favour. He is repenting now and he will only be forgiven if he resigns. He has a guilty conscience for stealing my votes," Sata said. "Rupiah Banda does not qualify to talk about morality. Rupiah Banda does not also qualify to talk about normality because he doesn't know the meaning of normality. Rupiah Banda doesn't know the definition of morality and normality. If Rupiah Banda is normal himself why talk about an abnormal person? The problem with Rupiah is that he speaks and then thinks later. That's the only unfortunate part and that's why he is failing to rule Zambia. Allen West was his company and it collapsed, African Commercial Bank where he was director also collapsed, he failed to run Namboard and Lusaka City Council. He has also failed to run his own farm, so how do you expect him to run Zambia for Christ's sake?"

Sata said President Banda was panicking because he could not show Zambians what he had done in his five months of being in office.

"Michael Sata's name will not rescue him...because of the mistakes of a few people, God is now punishing Zambia. Rupiah Banda and Dan Kalale must repent or we are doomed. Rupiah's five months as President looks like five years and they are now panicking," Sata said. "Anyway, they say 'those whom the gods want to destroy they first confuse them'. They are now confused and confessing to their evil deeds. First, it was Vice-President George Kunda who went to Western Province and said what they did in the last elections and now it’s Rupiah himself."

Sata said President Banda was hallucinating.

"I forgive him because he is our President imposed on Zambians by Dan Kalale and others. The ranting he is doing, he is confused. The President has become too confused so that wherever he goes he is seeing the spook of Michael Sata," Sata said. "Between Rupiah Banda and myself, it's not for me to judge. It's the people to judge who has got morals. Maybe he is right, I have no morals of stealing, telling lies and diverting public funds for personal use. Rupiah Banda wants to divert people's attention from his failure to rule Zambia to the exchange of words between him and myself."

Sata said President Banda had failed to fulfill his campaign promises.

"Everything Rupiah Banda touches is a disaster. For the first time in this country people have completely lost hope. The man can't fulfill his promises, he is confused, and the man is jumping like a grasshopper. Let him tell the people what he has on his mind, how he is going to improve the economy and how he is going to mitigate the problem of job losses and the escalating mealie-meal prices, that's what a president does," Sata said. "Let him solve the country’s numerous problems and not talking about Michael Sata wherever he goes. Anyway, I am grateful because Rupiah is now a self-appointed PF national organising secretary and because of his constant remarks about Michael Sata wherever he goes, even people who didn't know about me will be curious and look forward to seeing me. He is just campaigning for me using state resources by flying to provinces to talk about me."

Sata said he avoided going for the Kuomboka traditional ceremony because he didn't want a showdown with President Banda.

"I didn't go for Kuomboka because I knew that there will be these outbursts from Rupiah Banda. His own intelligence tells me the agenda in advance wherever he goes. PF is the only party that is both in and outside government. We have our people everywhere. Can you imagine the confusion if I was there and Rupiah made those outbursts? People would have risen and they would have said 'Sata has come to cause confusion'. That's why I stayed away because I didn't want to be blamed," Sata said.

He said he had all the confidence in the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE).

"I know that this is just one incident where the BRE is being dragged in the activities of Dan Kalale and his friends. It's just a few individuals within the BRE who are being dragged into this whole thing by a few individuals within MMD that have benefited greatly from Rupiah's government. People like MMD national chairman Michael Mabenga and Rupiah Banda's special advisor for political affairs Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika," he said.

Officiating at Kuomboka ceremony at the Litunga's Limulunga palace in Mongu on Saturday, President Banda described Sata as a person who is not normal and is insufficiently educated to rule Zambia. He said Sata had no morals and was just good at insulting old people.

And UPND chairperson for livestock and fisheries Captain Lawrence Nyambe said there were no leadership qualities in President Banda.

"He is the most unsuitable President since independence. On Saturday, the President missed an opportunity to tell the people of Western Province who massively voted for him and he has not visited them since his election what to expect from him in terms of development, lifting their standards of living and reducing the poverty that is so widespread," Capt Nyambe said. "He never spelt the policy of his government on cultural affairs. He was a guest at a cultural ceremony. Instead, his speech was concentrated on insulting an opposition leader Michael Sata. By denouncing and insulting Michael Sata, the people of Western Province do not benefit from that style of leadership. We are greatly disappointed in this province."

Capt Nyambe said President Banda missed an opportunity to show leadership and give direction to thousands that had gathered for the ceremony.

"His boasting that he had seen the suffering caused by floods is neither here nor there. If he cared for this province, he should have come here at the climax of the floods. This time he was flying over the Barotse plains when the water levels had gone down and suffering had reduced," Capt Nyambe said. "He should have been here when suffering was at its maximum. We have seen other leaders who care and they came at the time when the water levels were high. President Hakainde Hichilema is one of those. President RB came here for Kuomboka and gave a wrong speech. His coming to check for floods was just a by the way thing."
