SOUTHERN Province minister Daniel Munkombwe says the opposition is playing naked politics and has formed an alliance based on their hate against President Rupiah Banda.

Speaking in Livingstone yesterday when a Chinese delegation from Anltui Foreign Economic Construction Company, which is in Zambia to build a stadium in Ndola, Lusaka and Livingstone paid a courtesy call on him, Munkombwe said there was thirst and lust by the opposition to get into State House.

He said that President Rupiah Banda may not be 100 per cent perfect but it didn’t warrant the opposition preaching his weakness openly instead of doing it internally.

"You see it is only this country because of the lust, the thirst to get to State House people are talking very unnecessarily against the President. He may not be 100 per cent perfect but he is a performer. They even started speaking against him. Yes they have ambitions but even a stupid ambition is a stupid ambition. These ambitions should be internal. The more we talk against ourselves, the more we strip ourselves naked. When you preach weakness, even the success you have scored will appear weak especially in the eyes of the international community. Yes you are in the opposition but when you open your mouth what comes out is the Chinese. The Chinese and people in Europe are not interested in politics. People are interested in development," he said.

Munkombwe said that he has been influential throughout his life.

"Yes there can be political alliances but any thing done based on hate does not work. Anything formed out of hate will not work even if you form these alliances it would not work. Anything built on hate will not work," he said.

Munkombwe said the Chinese were the only people willing to help Zambia.

And Chinese delegation leader Jim Meikang who is AFEC assistant group president said that his visit has strengthened the collaboration between Zambia and China.

"We will try to promote more projects as per Chinese tradition. We know your expectations, the company is interested to take up more projects around the world," he said

And ministry of sports chief planner Henry Kapacha said that the stadium to be built in Livingstone will have a seating capacity of 30, 000.
