Thandiwe hails Mama Betty’s loyalty to KK

FIRST lady Thandiwe Banda has said former first lady Betty Kaunda's exemplary qualities of loyalty and support to her husband in good and bad times are a record to beat.

Commissioning the Lady Betty Boat Cruise by Lawrence Sikutwa Group of Companies (LSA) in Kafue last Tuesday, Thandiwe said few husbands could stay the course in the face of a nagging and unsupportive wife.

"Mama Betty Kaunda was exemplary and she remains a shining example of loyalty and support by a wife of her husband in bad and good times. It is a record to beat," she said.

Thandiwe said the gesture was not only a show of recognition of Betty's efforts, but the role many women played in the liberation struggle.

LSA Group of Companies chairperson Lawrence Sikutwa said the group picked on Betty for her contribution towards the liberation struggle.

He also announced that the Group would put up a hotel worth US $12 million.
