LIFE would be boring without women, Livingstone mayor Joram Mwinda has said. Speaking during the first ever Face of Livingstone beauty pageant at Fairmount Hotel on Friday, mayor Mwinda said God created women in a unique way.

“As we strive to change the face of Livingstone through road rehabilitation and street lighting, we also need to change the way we do things. Beauty is associated with women; let us be like the beauty faces that we see here today because God created women in a unique way. Just look at the way they walk, the way they do things. Without women, life was going to be boring. I wonder how it would be one day that I wake up and there is no woman. It would be boring,” he said.

Mayor Mwinda called on Livingstone residents not to vandalise the infrastructure that was being worked on.
“Let us not vandalise the rehabilitated roads, let us not stone the street lights,” he said.

Mayor Mwinda also urged business houses to support young artists so that they could make it in life.

And Livingstone Events Organising (LEO) committee chairman Fred Mwendapole said the organisation would use the winner of the pageant to market the tourism potential of Livingstone.

“We will use the winner of this first ever Face of Livingstone function to sensitise the nation on the potential of Livingstone. We shall also use her to educate the community on issues of environment so that we can keep the tourist capital clean,” said Mwendapole.
