President Rupiah Banda with MMD Chilanga parliamentary candidate Keith Mukata
Former ruling party UNIP central committee member Cuthbert Kolala has urged the Zambian electorate to give President Rupiah Banda a fresh mandate in 2011 for continued economic growth.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka, today, Mr. Kolala said President Banda has demonstrated good leadership style in the past two years he has been in office resulting in enormous economic development and should there for be given another term to preside over the affairs of the country.
He has since described Mr. Banda as a seasoned Politician, Freedom Fighter, Academician, Business Man and Christian who deserves the support of every Zambian citizen.
Mr. Kolala, who is also a Freedom Fighter, further said that Mr. Banda has led the country to economic recovery going by the many positive achievements scored in various sectors such as Mining, Agriculture, Education, Health and Infrastructure development.
He has however cautioned Zambians not to be misled by selfish politicians who are only interested in fulfilling their political aspirations without putting the interest of the country and its citizens first.
Mr. Kolala has meanwhile castigated politicians and Civil Society Organizations condemning President Banda over his foreign trips.
He wondered why people should condemn President Banda when results are there for every one to see resulting from his foreign trips.
Mr. Kolala sited the influx of foreign investors trooping in the country to invest in various sectors as part of president Banda’s trips.
And Chama North Member of Parliament Toddy Chilembo has said the MMD in his constituency will support President Rupiah Banda as the presidential candidate.
Mr Chilembo said this in Chama yesterday when he addressed a public meeting at Kanyelele village in senior chief Kambombo’s area.
He said President Banda should be given another mandate because he has performed very well in the period of two years.
Mr Chilembo further said the MMD Government has brought a lot of development to Chama north which had been lagging behind for a long time.
He said Chama as a District had continued to grow at a fast rate looking at infrastructure development that has taken place over the last 4 years.
Mr Chilembo has meanwhile urged Zambians to vote for President Banda in next year’s tripartite elections for development to continue in the country.
